the Wild Iris - Ninilchik, AlaskaYour hosts, John & Nadine Russo, 26 year residents of Ninilchik Alaska welcome you. |

If you are coming here from Anchorage, you will have a most spectacular 185 mile experience. The three and a half hour drive passes between jagged peaks and alpine meadows, viewing glorious fjords, crystal lakes and four majestic volcanoes, rising above Cook Inlet. (The trip will take longer when you make all the photo stops!) Several years ago this was designated "one of the 10 most beautiful highways in the US". Smaller airports to the north, south and east can bring you right into the Kenai Peninsula. Ninilchik is just 40 miles to the south of Kenai (and Soldotna); 36 miles north of Homer; and Seward is just 132 road miles to the east. Once you’ve settled into your cabin, any direction makes a drive with some of the most magnificent sights you’ll ever witness. (You may want to white water down Six Mile where three canyons offer class 4 and 5 rapids.) Any of your days can be filled with sight-seeing, museums, marine and wildlife centers, gift shops, fine dining and yes, more fishing. Summer is the busy season, but September through April in Ninilchik is peaceful and quiet. Open year round, our cabin offers a gateway to Ninilchik's winter recreation. Go cross country skiing or snowshoeing. Rent snow machines or take a brisk late night walk watching for the Northern Lights. All seasons offer up many hunting possibilities. Year round there's something to do when you visit Ninilchik. Ninilchik offers days of recreation for the fisherman, sightseer or adventurer. |
| Possibilities for the fisherman are endless. Book a charter out on Cook Inlet and fish for World Class Halibut and King Salmon. Anglers on our two rivers (Deep Creek and Ninilchik) will find King Salmon, Silvers, Steelhead and DollyVarden. At low tide, dig for razors in the clam beds of our beaches. (The limit here is 60 clams!) |

| The Wild Iris Cabin greets you with a quaint garden and barbeque with outdoor eating area.
